- Erica's agenda and "write a review" widgets on the website's homepage are hosted by Simply Book Me.
Simply Book Me, which is based in the European Union (Cyprus), collects and stores personal data when a potential student opens an account to make a reservation: name, email address, telephone number, the lessons you have already taken and your upcoming lessons, your loyalty points, your memberships if any, your coupon codes, and all your invoices.
You can access a copy of your data ("data report") directly from your agenda account. How to access your data report?
Learn French Step by Step keeps customer's data stored on the agenda to allow students or potential students to book lessons without having to re-open a new account every time they wish to use a service.
However, to comply with GDPR requirements, all data from a student will be deleted after 12 months if the student hasn't booked any service for that time, that is to say if the account has been inactive for 12 (twelve) months. Cancelled lessons are not counted as inactivity.
In consequence, should the student wish to become active again after 12 months of inactivity, he or she will have to open a new account.
You have the right to ask for modification or deletion of all or part of your data from the agenda. You can contact Simply Book Me directly for data requests, or ask Learn French Step by Step to do it for you.
Simply Book Me can send all account users email and sms reminders to help them not to miss their appointment. Learn French Step by Step has enabled such reminders by default. Unless students opt out those reminders, they will receive an email reminder 1 hour maximum before the appointment, and an sms reminder 20 mns maximum before the appointment.
You will also receive automatic emails from Simply Book Me when loyalty points are manually or automatically added to your account.

Telegram notifications after having made an appointment on the agenda.
Learn French Step by Step is totally independant from Telegram. If you have subscribed to Telegram notifications after booking your lesson (please read) and wish to unsubscribe, you will have to do it on your side from your Telegram account.
Why do you need to open an account on the agenda?
To be able to book a lesson, workshop or free introductory interview, you need to open an account on the agenda's website. You can not checkout as a guest. Opening an account allows you to view your full booking history, cancel or reschedule your bookings easily, subscribe to optional Telegram notifications directly from your account, unsubscribe from email or sms, and modify your data easily. It also allows you to leave a review about your lessons on this website.
Personal data stored in the agenda database

- Your email address
- Your telephone number
- The lessons you have already taken, and your upcoming lessons
- Your loyalty points, if any
- Your memberships, if any
-Your coupon codes, if any
- All your invoices.
Your information is also used by Learn French Step by Step:
- to contact you, if necessary, about your upcoming lesson, a payment which may have been rejected, a missed lesson...
- to review the date and number of lessons you have already taken in order to organise better your learning progression, and issue invoices if requested.
- To contact you, if necessary, about your loyalty points, your memberships and your coupon codes.
You will never receive any other information on your email than the necessary information to manage your lessons. You will never receive any incentives or requests to purchase lessons, or more lessons.
Payments
→ When you pay by card on Erica's Agenda, please note that Learn French Step by Step, Erica Hunt as an individual or Simply Book Me never receive your debit/credit card or Paypal information. The Payment is processed by Paypal, Stripe or Square only, according to your chosen payment provider.
Video software
Lessons are carried out on Zoom, outside of Learn French Step by Step's website.
Lessons are always automatically recorded by the teacher from the start to the end of the meeting. It allows the teacher to keep a trace of the lessons, and send you the recording so you can watch the replay of your lessons. Recording also greatly help for the preparation of your next lesson, to ensure that a coherent progression will be followed.
You are always warned in advance, when the link to the Zoom meeting is sent to you, that the lesson will be recorded. You have the right to refuse to have your lessons recorded. In that case, Zoom invites you to disconnect immediately from the meeting before it starts. In case you choose to do so, you lesson will be fully refunded. By entering the meeting, you accept to have your lesson recorded.
Your data or image will never be publicly used, nor sold or transferred to any third-party by Learn French Step by Step or Erica Hunt as an individual, unless required to do so for legal reasons. You do not have the right to sell or transfer, even for free, to any third parties or individuals the recordings of your lessons without your teacher's written and explicit authorization.

Newsletter
You can subscribe to the newsletter and receive it directly in your email box.
Newsletters are made on, and hosted by, MailChimp. To know more about MailChimp's compliance to the GDPR, please read here and here. You can also read their cookie statement.
The subscription form on Learn French Step by Step's website is made on, and hosted by, Tally and is fully GDPR compliant. Tally is a company based in Belgium that hosts all personal data in Belgium. Read their Privacy Policy.
After filling this form, your personal data will be stored into Tally's database. Learn French Step by Step does not delete this personal data, in order to keep a record of your explicit consent to receive newsletters. You have the right to ask Learn French Step by Step a copy of your data, and also to delete all or part of your data from Tally's database.
In order to send you regular newsletters, I transfer your data into MailChimp's database. Your data is kept in Mailchimp's database until you decide to unsubscribe from the newsletter. Learn French Step by Step does not delete your data from MailChimp's database, as a deletion would mean you could not receive the newsletter anymore. Not unsubscribing from the newsletter, nor asking Learn French Step by Step to do it for you, means that your explicit consent to receive newsletter is still valid.
As with Tally's database, you have the right to ask a copy of your data, and also to delete all or part of your data from the MailChimp's database. However, the request to delete data means you will also be unsubscribed from the newsletter.
A first email will be manually sent to you from MailChimp to ask you to confirm your email address. If unconfirmed, you will receive a first reminder, then a last reminder. Some people may be subscribed to newsletters without knowing it so Learn French Step by Step never sends any newsletter to unconfirmed email addresses.
Your data (name and email address) is used only to send you the regular newsletter and communicate with you on subjects directly linked to the newsletter. You will never receive any form of communication, advertising or marketing in the future.
You can unsubscribe any time from the newsletter. To unsubscribe, please follow the link at the bottom of each newsletter, or you can ask Learn French Step by Step to do it for you. All your data will be permanently deleted from MailChimp's and Tally's data bases. After deletion, the data can not be recovered.
If you wish to receive the newsletter again after having unsubscribed, you will have to fill the subscription form again.

Use of your data by Learn French Step by Step.
Learn French Step by Step only uses your data to fulfill contractual obligations, comply with legal obligations, answer your contact and information requests, update you about your lessons, your loyalty points, your memberships, your coupon codes, or send you newsletters you subscribed to.
→ All your personal data is confidential, and Learn French Step by Step or Erica Hunt as an individual will never sell, exchange, transfer or give it to any third parties, except if you explicitely ask us to do so, or if required to do so for legal reasons.
On Erica's agenda: after making a reservation, you will receive an automatic booking confirmation email for your lesson, followed later on by an email reminder. Unless you have booked a Free Introductory Interview, you will also receive an email with your invoice as an attached file.
I only use your registered email and/or your telephone number if it is necessary to contact you about the lesson you have booked.
You can modify your data directly from your account or ask me to do it for you. Please contact me if you wish me to delete your data saved in the agenda's database. Always use the email address stored in the database for this request. I will send you an email to verify you are the author of this request. Once it is confirmed, the deletion will be done in 24 hours maximum.
You can also request a copy of your personal data. Please also use the email you entered when booking a lesson when contacting me about those requests.
Learn French Step by Step or Erica Hunt as an individual do not have any access to your login or password. In case you lose your password, you will have to recover it from the agenda's login page.
- Widgets on this website (YouTube Gallery, Banners and Pop ups, Photo galeries, Facebook and Instagram feeds, Testimonial slider, Podcast player) are hosted by Elfsight. These widgets do not collect any of your personal data. To know more about Elfsight's compliance with the GDPR, please read Elfsight's privacy policy.
- Videos are hosted by YouTube, and embedded on this website's homepage with the YouTube gallery widget mentioned above, and in some other places with a video embedder. Most of the "Other" cookies listed in the table above come from YouTube. All videos will also be uploaded to Vimeo in January or February 2023, and the YouTube gallery widget will be replaced on Learn French Step by Step's website by a Vimeo gallery widget. Testmoz.
- Testmoz is an excellent service, however it is based in the USA and in consequence, all data collected is stored in the United States. People based in EU or EEA may prefer to use a service based in EU or EEA. People based outside of EU or EEA can use Testmoz, or any other exercise provider.
Some older optional quizzes, QCMs and tests embedded in Learn French Step by Step's lessons or podcasts are still presented with the Testmoz service only.
Learn French Step by Step is working hard on adding, for students and visitors based in the EU or EEA, the option to take all quizzes, QCMs and tests on :
- Quizinière or Drag & Survey, which are both based in France,
- or Tally, which is based in Belgium,
depending on the nature of the exercise.
All these companies are based in EU and are GDPR compliant.

If you are based in EU or EEA and the test, quiz or exercise you wish to take is only proposed with Testmoz, please contact your teacher. A link with a copy of the test will then be sent to you a few hours after your request.
Learn French Step by Step's compulsory tests (placement tests to be done after Free introductory interview) are hosted by Drag & Survey.
On Testmoz site, Learn French Step by Step collects some personal data when students or visitors fill the forms to use those services: name and email address. It is not compulsory to provide your information, unless you wish to receive a personalized correction. This personal data is used to answer you and send you a correction and/or a feedback.
Learn French Step by Step, keeps data stored on Testmoz's account for a month, in case the user would need more information about his exercise, and then deleted. You have the right to ask Learn French Step by Step to delete all or part of your data sooner. Once deleted, it can not be recovered.
On Testmoz's side, the company applies the best possible data protection policy. Read more about Testmoz's Privacy policy.
Some of the "Other" cookies listed in Learn French Step by Step's Cookie Policy above come from Testmoz.
- Other exercises embedded in Learn French Step by Step's posts or pages can also be built with the LearningApps service. LearningApps is a service based in Switzerland. It does not require you to enter any personal data to take the exercises.
"Ask a question" and "correction" services
The answer to your question or your correction are sent by email, and are included in the message itself. No attached file will be sent to you.
Your email address will be kept in my records for a month after sending the answer to your question, your correction, or the complement to your answer/correction if you need one, then it will be deleted.
You will never receive any form of communication, advertising or marketing in the future.
You have the right to request your personal data to be deleted immediately after receiving the answer to your message or correction of your exercise. Please tick the box in the form.
- Learn French Step by Step is not showing any ads on its website, (apart from the name of the third parties used to run the website which is compulsory if still on a free account with these third parties) and will never run ads in the future.
However, YouTube videos are embedded on this website. YouTube may run adverts in their videos.
You can disable advertisement cookies in your Cookies settings (blue button at the bottom left of this site).
